[Every single one of these PCs have to involve alcohol in some way.

And by that I mean, Jae-ha is going to sit at a table in the dining room. He's already conjured up two cups, and a bottle of sake. When Souji walks into the room, he smiles even if it doesn't reach his eyes.]

Just the person I was hoping I'd find.

[AH YES, DRINKING TO DEAL WITH THE MESS THAT THEIR LIVES HAVE BECOME... Sign Souji up. His stupid ass is definitely sick, but he won't turn down a cup just because of some sniffles, okay.]

[The likeliness of Jae-ha letting Souji drink too much, all things considered, are slim.

monday night, post drinking contest THESE FOOLS

[Souji definitely lost because he sure wasn't trying hard to win. HE ENJOYED SOME DRINK, THOUGH. More than a sick person should be drinking, probably, but look. He's here for a good time, not a long one??

Anyway, he's a pretty tactile person to begin with, and that just kind of amplifies the tipsier he is. He's not flatass drunk by any means, but his face looks a little more alive since his cheeks are red, and he's kind of faceplanted into Jae-ha's arm.]

[THE SINGULAR YIKE IS FOR NATSUO THIS TIME, NOT EITHER OF THEM.

Anyway, after hearing that Jae-ha is the one who found the body, Souji is naturally going to seek him out. Certainly it's not as traumatic as losing a captain, but Natsuo - well, as far as he could tell, Natsuo was almost universally held in kind regard. It's definitely a shock, to see him gone. Once he does find mr. green dragon leggy, he stops a little shy before moving forward again.]

but jae-ha is just going to be minding his own business. he's probably reading a book on codes, to be honest, trying to teach himself something new overnight, and he looks up when he's addressed.

[Souji sure is in a GOOD MOOD... And it's honestly not even because he won, he's actually genuinely glad that he was able to work some stupid knots out of Sousei's stupid back and hopes it helps him if he has to stab anyone in the future.

But that aside, he'll just drift on over to wherever Jae-ha is today...]

[A BREAK IN STUPID FOR SADNESS -

Jae-ha hadn't quite realized the connection between Souji and Hijikata besides the fact that they were partners, however the display of emotion when the body was discovered certainly wasn't from a selfish place. In that moment, Jae-ha was rather certain that Souji wasn't worried about his own fate.

So he retrieves a tray from the kitchen as well as some tea, and goes to find Souji.

He doesn't really need to say much of anything. Jae-ha will simply have a seat and pour tea for the both of them.]

IS HE DOWN FOR POURING TEA NEAR A BODY BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE SOUJI'S GOING TO BE!!! There's no glass case keeping him at bay! He's just here with his deadass friend!!

Though he is taking a few wandering breaks every now and then at least, to do things like hunt down Evan so he can thank him properly, or just because his legs feel restless - the whole of him feels restless, knowing Hijikata's killer is still out there and there's nothing he'd been able to do to stop them, hadn't even known to see them coming.

Maybe he'll find Souji in a less morbid place, though his expression doesn't change wherever it is he's found. He's listless in the deep and unsettling way grief brings, like someone hollowed out. He barely looks over when Jae-ha pours them tea, and doesn't reach for a cup.]

[WOW THERE ARE SO MANY DEAD PEOPLE

Souji sure found one of them too, this boy cannot get a BREAK... In any case there's no reason to stop for tea and snacks today since he just straight-up hasn't eaten since Wednesday night and there are more pressing matters to attend to anyway!!

Checking on people, for one, since he heard that Jae-ha's puppet was burnt and Yasusada told him what happened with his own puppet earlier. WHERE CAN DRAGON LEGGY BE FOUND TODAY.]

where no one should trust him considering the mess that he cooked up earlier in the week. there's a blanket tossed aside that he had been carrying for some sense of modesty, but given that he doesn't expect anyone to walk in on him, he's discarded it. now it's just burn scars and uno slash wound on his chest on display as he sorts through the ingredients in the cupboards

[HOLY SHIT THIS BOY LOOKS HAUNTED!! AND ALSO really unwell honestly, he's definitely been in a decline from the day they all arrived but the last three have made

a substantial difference.

In any case, he can be found ghosting around in his Souji way, clutching Yasusada's blade tightly in both hands. Does he even know where he's going?? Possibly not!! It's fine.]

In all honesty, Souji is the one that Jae-ha looks for first after trial. Which is why he'll suddenly have a dragon appearing at his side and he calls out to him - ] Souji.

week 3, sunday

[In truth, Jae-ha doesn't care to monopolize or dwell on his suffering. Objectively, he can agree that his first week in this castle was disastrous. Losing his Captain, being betrayed by his own partner, thinking that there was a good chance he'd be left for dead -

Souji has outranked that by far.

It's why he's not surprised when Souji seems to be unsteady after it all, and why he's immediately going to step in the second that he looks like he might lose his footing.

And neatly catch him, and pick him up.]

[Considering he's pretty lightheaded, it takes him a second to actually register what happened. He'd lost his balance a little too much to correct for, and then - arms? Hm.

Jae-ha will find him easy to carry, at least. He's thin to begin with, hasn't been eating well for days. He also doesn't struggle. Really, since the start of the execution, he's shown a remarkable amount of poise. He'd decided the night before, as soon as Yasusada had requested his hand in execution, that he needed to keep himself held together however he possibly could. There's no room for selfishness here. He can't keep worrying people.

He doesn't want to deal with yet another loved one looking at him like they've failed him.]

[Being useless and burdensome isn't what he wants at all.]

week 4 tuesday evening me, fucking crying

[Anyway they're on their way to Sousei and Jae-ha's room now and Souji is just literally being carried away from the cat because it was a joke but now it's reality.]

week 5, wednesday

[Somewhere on a high shelf in the library, barely just visible to the eye, there's a hair ornament. There are feathers on it, simple decorations that Jae-ha recognizes from a very smart, very beautiful boy. It's caught his attention and should he sees Souji, he'll beckon him over and gesture up to the item.]

[Oh, he's being beckoned over, what's up-- Shufflin' on down the aisle!! And then glancing upward once Jae-ha gestures there, indicating some... sort of feathery thing. Souji squints a little, head tilting to the side.]

--I do, yes. What do you think it is?

week 7, post-trial

[this is extremely cursed

But Souji is here, and Souji is healthy, and Souji is absolutely delighted to see Jae-ha again now that the stress of the trial has ended. Being dead for 2 seconds apparently hasn't dampened his enthusiasm much, since he just fucking launches himself at this stupid man the second he sees him.]

We did it—!

[do you know how fucking scared i am

because once everything is over and they're restored - Jae-ha is absolutely going to open his arms and sweep Souji up into a a crushing hug, no longer worried about squeezing him too tight, and spinning him around in his arms with a laugh to go with the momentum]
