You're not wrong. It's not the first time that I've had my feelings tampered with outside of my control - but it's... uncomfortable.
[the paranoia.
it reminds him of how he felt all last thursday.]
We can't seem to catch a break, can we?
[that said - this is the first time he's seen sousei today, so jae-ha will also just bring up the bundles of cloth that he has in his arms, taking one and tossing it over to sousei]
[Well, he tucks that away inside of his head and nods simply. Jae-ha knows him so well. He is absolutely going to search for clues until his fingers are numb out there.]
Don't get me wrong - I don't like putting my fate into the hands of anything but myself. But this place runs on rules and magic that I can't figure out.
[ . . . and he's curious, even more than he's stubborn in this case.]
So -
I wished for a way to take everyone away from here.
I think it will. [So the well did that correctly, but.] I need to find a way out of this place first. When I jump - the castle is always right next to me, or it still climbs higher and higher, as far as I go.
[Of course he tried.]
If I attempt to jump too far in one direction, I find myself right back where I was - just on the castle grounds.
[It's the report part that he answers first.]
... and it comes with a drawback, in case you plan on trying to get a wish of your own granted.
[Jae-ha pauses at that, trying to recall - ] How much... have I told you?
[It's odd, to think that so much could be covered in just a little bit over a week. Jae-ha pauses then, moves to sit on the bed, the only implication that he feels like this might take longer to go over.]
.... does your country have a creation myth? Kouka does. That's where I'm from - same for Captain Gi-gan and... ah, Soo-won is here too. He's the King... in a manner of speaking.
[It's Complicated.]
But the dragons have been born since the beginning, supposedly. Ever since King Hiryuu descended from the skies, and the dragon gods who loved him granted their blood and powers to humans, making them their other halves. Even when the original dragons died, more were born to replace them. These dragons... fate ties them together, and it ties them toward the one person that they're meant to serve, the reincarnation of King Hiryuu.
Before I came here, I could sense their presence. I would know how far away they were, and I would run from them, because I don't want to be caught up in something I didn't choose for myself. Eventually - they found me, and.... I decided they were worth my time.
When I came here, I couldn't feel their presence.
[He pauses, and places a hand over his heart.]
... I do now.
But it's a constant.... ache - like there's something wrong with them.
It feels like they're... far away from where I can reach.
So they granted me back my dragon blood... just to tell me that.
If it's going to be storytime, then Sousei will sit next to Jae-ha on the bed. There's nothing to it, it's just that it makes more sense to listen on the same level, from a sitting position, obviously.
Also while it is not the point of the story, Sousei thinks of Jae-ha's love of freedom and wonders how he feels about being tied to someone he's "meant to serve".
Still... the other dragons, clearly, he cares a great deal for.]
... I see. [Sousei frowns, head tilting forward as he thinks.]
So they allowed you to reconnect to them, but only so that you could see just how far from them you've been stolen away to.
[... That's cruel. He really...really hates this place so, so much. So while his voice is soft, his hands have balled into fists.]
It aches in his chest. He wonders - is Shin-ah okay? Is Ki-ja alright? Zeno? Yona? His connection with Yona is different, it's not as loud as the other dragons, it's not as strong and he can't pinpoint where she is exactly but - like this... he feels it. He feels like they're fading, like they'll slip away when he stops paying attention.
He closes his eyes for a moment, his smile rueful.]
It's like the feeling we get when we're apart - but it's constant. That... nagging. But -
[He can survive this.]
.... the gift I was given outweighs it - if I can make it useful.
[Sousei says that much tartly, brow furrowed. Everything that's happening here...]
And wishes even more so.
[There's nothing wrong with having a wish--nothing wrong with a hope for the future, a wish for something better, and he hates the thought that there should be here and now.]
Even though I agree with you, this is what we have. It's unpleasant, but I'm alive and have practice ignoring it. For a long time I didn't even want to feel their presences...
[And so he finds it difficult to hold onto his anger - ]
But just be careful, in case you want to turn in that token of yours. You'll probably get what you want, but it'll probably bring along something you could do without too.
[There's a contemplative pause at that, and he really does waver between them. But honestly, agreeing to it is basically giving Jae-ha an honest answer anyway--
no subject
[It's not some pesky thing where his feelings of loyalty and attachment and connection to Yona and the other dragons have been transferred to Sousei.
Oh, that would be so unfortunate and complicated.]
That doesn't make it any less annoying.
no subject
That all said?
Sousei is definitely just sighing.]
I do not intend on letting it change my habits for the week, or however long it is this will last.
[So Jae-ha doesn't have to worry about running off to pcs or whatever.]
It is merely annoying.

[the paranoia.

[that said - this is the first time he's seen sousei today, so jae-ha will also just bring up the bundles of cloth that he has in his arms, taking one and tossing it over to sousei]
Take this.
[it's a cloak, for the record]
no subject
[That's!! Unfortunate and shitty!]
It must be even less tolerable for you, then. I have already decided it is infuriating.
[But oh, then there's a cloak... Sousei blinks, accepting it quietly and looking at it. Oh.]
... Thank you.
no subject
[it's been a hurricane of a week, he's trying to remember exactly how much he'd told sousei about himself
but jae-ha just laughs faintly at his reaction anyway]
You're welcome. It's cold outside, so don't push your luck while you're out there looking for clues.
[that's his guess of what sousei would do anyway]
no subject
... I see.
[Well, he tucks that away inside of his head and nods simply. Jae-ha knows him so well. He is absolutely going to search for clues until his fingers are numb out there.]
I will push my luck only as far as is sensible.
[Thanks, Sousei.]
What do you intend to do?
no subject
[it sounds fucking awful and he hates it - but he's also better at compartmentalizing than most people would give him credit for]
But me - I...
[ . . . ]
I used their Wishing Well.
no subject
Did you? What for?
[... "Freedom", of some sort, he'd imagine. It just depends on what form that freedom takes.]
no subject
[ . . . and he's curious, even more than he's stubborn in this case.]
So -
I wished for a way to take everyone away from here.
no subject
And? What was the outcome of that wish?
no subject
There's a clear moment where Jae-ha seems to be considering how much he wants to stay, but at least he finds a start:]
I can use my dragon leg again.
[Though - it's a tempered answer, which might imply that there's something he's still holding back on.
Something that pulls from his joy.]
no subject
For now, he leaves it mildly at:]
Do you think it will allow you to steal people away from here, as you had wished for?
no subject
[Of course he tried.]
If I attempt to jump too far in one direction, I find myself right back where I was - just on the castle grounds.
[It's the report part that he answers first.]
... and it comes with a drawback, in case you plan on trying to get a wish of your own granted.
no subject
That says...a lot, actually. Sousei frowns.]
And what was your drawback?
no subject
[It's odd, to think that so much could be covered in just a little bit over a week. Jae-ha pauses then, moves to sit on the bed, the only implication that he feels like this might take longer to go over.]

I will keep that in mind, though I believe currently the risk is worth the attempt, when I have thought of a suitably wish.
[Either way--]
Will you be all right like this?
no subject
[he's not answering the question,,]
no subject
[REMEMBER...]
And you are avoiding the question.
no subject
[why are they doing this]
So I'll trade you an honest answer for an honest answer.
no subject
...So he sighs.]
Fine then. It's a deal.
