I'll tell you what I got - if you promise to be careful with your wish. I keep hearing [and seeing] the ways that they seem to be backfiring on people.
Then it comes with another story - but the short version is that the dragon gods chose human warriors in order to inherit their powers to protect the king. Those powers were reincarnated even after the original warriors died - leaving the Green Dragon with a dragon's leg.
Jae-ha manages a smile at that, even if it lacks all the usual warmth. It's still a very good play at one.]
A previous Green Dragon supposedly ruined it for the rest of us - when his power was discovered, the village of the Green Dragon was attacked. Following that, every dragon that was born would be chained to the earth so as to not cause trouble.
It should - but it's in the nature of the Green Dragon to take to the skies. Even when I was a child, I would escape, day after day, and there'd always be something who had to come and get me.
[But he'll leave those details vague and move on, because he thinks any more detail than that is something Varian doesn't need to be personally burdened with.]
There are a few other things - one of the other traits is that I'm supposed to be able to sense the other dragons. Blue, White, and Yellow.
[ little brother doesn't need to know the details of that shitty village :/ ]
Something like that - I used to be able to tell distance, and so I would constantly move myself far away from them so they wouldn't be able to find me.
[ . . . Jae-ha seems somber for a moment before answering. It's good for Varian to know, maybe it'll be a piece of a puzzle for him, and it'll function well enough as a warning.]
I can feel their presence again - but it's far. Too far for me to reach, even if I try to leave in the direction that my blood tells me.
And it feels like they're growing weaker, slowly... but surely.
[Like they're dying - but it doesn't quite leave his mouth.]
[ listen the last time he was touched someone ... ate ... him ... thanks britt so he does. flinch at first but then relaxes. he doesn't really hold back because he's too busy shaking but he just. whispers. ]
[ he had a million reasons and maybe he could've tried something else, but he can't bring himself to fully regret it. even now, after everything. so he doesn't mention those ]
Right or wrong... I don't know. I did it because I thought-- [ no. ] because I had to.
[ in corona, everything he did he absolutely believed was right. he still does. he was betrayed first there, after all. but here? here it wasn't so clear cut. but he still thinks, if he'd just gone through with all of it-- or just gone through with it earlier-- maybe it could've--
what's done is done. ]
You told me not to lie, but that's what I've been doing all game. It's what I had to do.
.... well, I'm sorry you didn't think you could tell me the truth before. I should've done something more. We all should've, so you didn't feel like you had to lie to everyone.
[He shakes his head and sighs - ] ... everyone is just doing their best with what they have, and what they think will save them and what's important to them. It applies to you, too.
[He'll set Varian back on the ground but won't pull away until Varian does - aside from reaching a hand up to ruffle his hair affectionately. At least it's not ghostly anymore.]
Sounds like you're telling a lot of truths now though.
It wasn't... It wasn't because of any of you, I just. It was easier, and the Princess didn't remember, so I ... I couldn't have her know, and--
[ he gives up on explaining himself. it seemed like the only thing to do at the time, but all it did was hurt people he ended up caring for when they didn't deserve it. and varian's the one hugging jae-ha now that he's on the ground, tbh. it's brief, though, and he pulls away. but not too much, just enough to look up at jae-ha with a half-sulk ]
... I guess. For all the good that's giving me.
[ i don't know if this is pre-dazai strangling him or post but it fits either way thaNKS EICHI. either way, he adds: ]
... I, I missed you. It's. It's nice to see you as a not-ghost.
[Jae-ha doesn't mind giving him that hug, and even as Varian pulls away Jae-ha will keep his hands on his shoulders, tethering the two of them by touch that they didn't have before.]
... I missed you too. You know I didn't want to see you here... but I'm selfishly glad I get to talk to you sooner rather than later, too.
week 1, monday
I'll tell you what I got - if you promise to be careful with your wish. I keep hearing [and seeing] the ways that they seem to be backfiring on people.

Absolutely! No problem.
[ o3o? ]
no subject
Have I told you anything about being a dragon?
[he's
not used to having this many people who know actually, so he can't remember who he's told what]
no subject
[ which was now. otherwise varian just read his tapestry. oops ]
no subject
Which is why I can jump so high.
[and he missed it
dearly]
no subject
[ that's very neat, and varian is not always full of tact, so: ]
Is that... Is that why they kept you locked up as a kid?
[ he's been called a dangerous wizard enough to know people are fucks with things they don't understand, so, y'know ]

That's-- that's ridiculous, shouldn't the blame just go to the people who attacked that village?
no subject
[But he'll leave those details vague and move on, because he thinks any more detail than that is something Varian doesn't need to be personally burdened with.]

Interesting... like a, a permanent call to each other?
no subject
Something like that - I used to be able to tell distance, and so I would constantly move myself far away from them so they wouldn't be able to find me.
The well gave me a piece of that back.
no subject
That... Doesn't sound so bad. But. What kind of piece?

week 6, sunday
For example.]
Varian!
[When he calls out for his little brother and sort of just.
Immediately scoops him up in a hug.]
no subject
Hi.
no subject
I won't hurt you.
[In case that helps. At all. Instead he's just going to keep his hold on Varian in a hug, sighing softly.]
... I didn't want to see you here - but maybe I'm selfishly glad I get to see you again at all.
no subject
... Are you? Everyone knows what I did.
no subject
[He'd caught it at the very end of the trial - somewhere in between the horror, somewhere in Varian's breakdown.]
... I can't tell you that I think what you did was right.
But I can't be mad at you for it either.

It sounds like you've been through a lot.
no subject
Yeah, well, heh, haven't we all by now?
[ also he's decided if he doesn't acknowledge his execution it didn't happen thanks ]
no subject
Maybe - but I at least expect people to be after me a little bit. Pirate and all.
But if anyone gives you trouble for what you've done, you'll have to let me know.
[we're gonna have to say this is before dazai going after varian bc then jae-ha will have to kick dazai in the throat]
no subject
You sound like Sanji.
[ it's definitely said fondly, for both of them. ]
... Okay. I will. Thanks.
